Jason Impey was born on the 26th February 1984 in Northampton UK. He became very
interested in films at a young age. He used to like to watch a film, and then try and work out how it had been made and why.
He built up a great deal of film knowledge that he used to impress people with. He brought films constantly, and he would
even spend his last bit of money on a film. He became a big fan of the horror genre, and the more gore the better. He particularly
liked B movies and the way that they did not follow the conventional style all Hollywood movies have, and how B movies could
be very unpredictable and would sometimes take massive risks!
His obsession with films grew greater and greater and knew that he wanted to be a film
director, and that there is nothing else he would ever want to do. Once he had finished school he went to Bedford College
where he completed a GNVQ in media. He then moved on and completed a BTEC National Diploma in media and while on his first
year of his BTEC he also completed an A/S in media. While studying at college he made a film for one of his assignments titled
‘The Evil Within’. This film was the first to explore the self-harming demons that haunt people, a theme that
would become common ground in Jason’s films.
Jason Impey has unleashed a number of short films. A short film called ‘Obsession’ was
released to the world in 2004 and became very popular; it even got a screening at the ‘Festival of Fantastic Films’
in Manchester. Over the years ‘Obsession’ has grown into a continuous cult short horror series that sparked a
prequel called ‘Beyond Darkness: Dave’s Story’. A promo package for Obsession was put together to be released
in the industry to raise money for a feature. The promo itself was entered into a competition and came in the top 3 for best
slasher film. There is now an all-new cut of this crazy horror flick – ‘Obsession the Director’s Cut’.
This all new edit is upon the world creating a storm. ‘Obsession’ was a spin off from the self-harming theme Jason
had explored and concentrated on character self break down. The lead in ‘Obsession’ destroys the one thing left
that he ever cared about which is the start of the characters fall. The next short film made called ‘Zombies in the
Wood’ won best film at the ‘2 Days Later Short Film Competition’ and inspired Jason to make his epic zombie
film titled ‘Zombie Village’. Jason was back at the ‘2 Days Later Short Film Competition’ the following
year with his sequel to ‘Zombies in the Wood’ titled ‘Zombies in the Wood 2’. The film had a great
response and both films where played on the awards night. Jason loves the Italian cannibal and zombie movies from the late
70’s and early 80’s and loves to play around with the zombie genre sending a new message in every film. The message
in ‘Zombie Village’ is a big statement that Jason believes strongly in, which is about abusing the environment
with pollution and experimental chemicals that is extremely bad with concerning consequences.
Jason had his first TV screening of one of his shorts in 2005
with his film ‘Tape of Horror’ that has been a huge success in gaining him a horror filmmaker reputation. The
film is available for download from a number of websites and has been screened all across the UK. Jason went on to make another
epic short film in the summer of 2005 titled ‘Nightmare in the Woods’. This film was put together with his earlier
‘Zombie Village’ to create his first feature titled ‘Woods of Terror’. After ‘Woods of Terror’
Jason made his first Super 8 film titled ‘Mind of a Killer’ that was screened at the ‘Cambridge Super 8’
festival with a Q & A by Jason himself. He then went and returned to the zombie genre, this time making a stop motion
zombie film titled ‘Zombie Infest’. Once these were complete he moved on and spent 3 months making his second
feature film ‘Sick Bastard’, in which he collaborated with all his old cast and crew from old productions with
some new faces popping up too. This film is now available in a DVD 6 horror film pack titled ‘Sinister Souls’
distributed by Pendulum Pictures and a 50-movie pack – ‘Catacomb of Creepshows’ distributed by Mill Creek
Entertainment.
Jason
put several of his horror short films together to create his third feature film, ‘Tales of Horror’ AKA ‘Tales
of Terror’. After this he then again put several of his shorts together to create his other feature film ‘Tales
of Terror 2’. In the summer of 2006 Jason embarked on a crazy journey that was the production of his fourth feature
film, ‘Home Made’. This is an all-new style of horror film from Jason that looks at the snuff genre and an obsessive
horror film director that loses his grip on reality. This film has been distributed by Brain Damage Films (Maxim Media International)
and out in all good DVD retail shops through out the USA. It is also available on the 50-movie boxset ‘Mortuary of Madness’
from Mill Creek Entertainment. Jason has gone on to make a sequel to ‘Home Made’ – ‘Home Made 2 The
Footage’ in which he returns to his original idea of ‘Home Made’, which was to create the ultimate fake
snuff film.
After
the ‘Home Made’ madness Jason teamed up with fellow filmmaker Kemal Yildirm to create his super 8 masterpiece
short ‘Revenge of the Dead’, which is one of his most controversial and shocking films to date. This film deals
with sexual transmitted diseases using the zombie genre that Jason was so excited to return back to. It has been screened
at the ‘Phantasmagoria’ festival 2008.
He then moved on to make his Dogme 95 feature film ‘Troubled’ which was a very unique film
for Jason, but still focuses on mental illness, but with a more dramatic approach to the subject matter. This film was premiered
at Cine World Milton Keynes on 10th September 2007 and has been distributed by WWMM – ‘World Wide Multi Media’.
Jason has also gone
on to complete his lesbian 16mm short ‘Lust’ starring Jenny Newland and he also made a romantic art film titled
‘The Bridge’, again stepping away from the horror genre he is so renowned for. He then went on to co-make the
short film Demon Scroll with Kemal Yildirim starring Rami Hilmi. This time dealing with fantasy action - new territory for
Jason, once ‘Demon Scroll’ was complete Jason made a very interesting pilot action adventure show titled ‘Doug
Hanson’, a new breed of super hero who has to do battle with the creatures of the night.
Jason then embarked on the ‘Exploitation’
project with Kemal Yildirim in which Kemal and Jason each made an exploitation feature – Kemal’s being Penance
a giallo movie in which Jason is Director of Photography. Jason made his epic ‘Tortured AKA Sex Slave’ that is
a very challenging movie and Jason’s most explicit movie ever! This film is a rape and revenge film in the traditional
style of the late 70’s early 80’s Italian cinema mixing it with the zombie genre as well to make the ultimate
Grindhouse movie. This film has been premiered at the Phoenix Cinema in London 2008, with audience members leaving due to
the shock of this film.
Jason has since moved on to star and co-produce the art house feature film ‘Naked Trip’ directed by Alex
Bakshaev and return to short filmmaking where he once again stepped back to using super 8 to make the film ‘Trapped’
for the ‘Straight 8 competition 2008’.
Jason also worked closely alongside Kemal Yildirim being his director of photography for Kemal’s
controversial movies: ‘Less Is More’ & ‘Rose’ and his groundbreaking feature film ‘Secrets’.
Jason also went on
to direct and vision mix live TV and pre-records for Edge Media TV working on a few series including ‘Now that’s
Weird’, ‘On The Edge’ and ‘Gardiner’s World’.
Jason returned to his epic film ‘Tortured AKA Sex Slave’
that has had several versions made, this is mainly due to censorship and trying to reach its audience. ‘Tortured’
& ‘Penance’ were split from each other from the film ‘Exploitation’ and ‘Tortured’
has been released uncut complete with its Nazi faux trailer by ‘Maxim Media International’. A slightly cut version
was made for a world wide release and titled ‘Deranged’ and was briefly released on
www.amazon.com but was removed due to the graphic nature of the film, so to get it past this censorship issue an extremely cut version was
made titled ‘Escaped Convicts’ that was put with Jason’s other film ‘Tormented’ to create a
new double bill that ‘Chemical Burn Entertainment’ have released. Another harder version was created titled ‘Sex
Slave’ in which Jason inserted XXX footage from his adult film ‘Naked Nazi’ starring Michelle Young aka
Amber Leigh who played Carmel in ‘Tortured’. Finally Jason created the ultimate definitive edition of what he
original wanted to make and titled it ‘Psychopaths’. The zombie element was removed and the rape toned down. The
timeline was moved about and new scenes including a brand new beginning and ending were shot and added to make the film he
originally set out to make.
Jason also revisited ‘Sick Bastard’ & ‘Home Made’ to make his next feature ‘Killer
Stories’. He re-edited his earlier films ‘Tormented’, ‘Sick Bastard’ and ‘Home Made’
each into 30 minute films and shot a wrap around story and created a brand new horror anthology.
He then made is ambitious social zombie drama
film ‘The Turning’ which Kemal Yildirim produced and starred in alongside Rami Hilmi & Eileen Daly, and features
tense drama, gory zombie action, a 10 minute epic martial arts fight scene and Nazi’s! Another extremely challenging
political statement from the very controversial Jason Impey
Jason Impey’s feature films are available from www.amazon.com from ‘WWMM’,
‘Chemical Burn Entertainent’ & ‘Brain Damage Films’. Keep a look out for his next film!
