Suicide Snuff 2008

Jason also shot an introduction to this film in which he finds the tape of the suicide to add to the authenticity of this little film.

Women Prisoners Of SS Camp From Hell 2008

10 minutes

Nazi Exploitation

This film is the extended film version of Jason’s faux trailer that was used in the ‘Exploitation’ feature film. This is Jason’s entry into the Nazi sexploitation video nastie sub genre and follows a British solider whose mission it is to save as many Jewish women from the concentration camp.

This was a multi format shoot, something quite familiar with Jason Impey films. There is footage from Super 8, miniDV & even SVHS all mixed up in  here to give it a strange art house feel. This film has had some trouble with censorship on the Internet, but the trailer version is still in tack on the front of Jason’s feature ‘Tortured AKA Sex Slave’ released by Maxim Media International.

Revenge of the Dead 2007

10 minutes

Zombie Rape!

Revenge of the Dead is Jason Impey’s super 8 zombie masterpiece. It tells the story of two young attractive women that go for a pic-nic to bitch about men (a theme that will be seen later in Jason Impey’s feature Tortured). This leads to disaster when a dog walker awakes a rotten corpse who attacks and rapes one of the women infecting her which starts what will soon be a zombie apocalypse.

Jason set off to make this film early 2007 and wanted to create a true grindhouse experience, and this was the start of an epic journey.

This was the first film Jason collaborated with Kemal Yildirim on who acted as his DOP. Kemal who also loves exploitation cinema worked closely with Jason to give it that 70’s look. Although the film was shot on super 8 there were technical problems with the film and therefore re-shoots were required and eventually lead to a very small portion to be shot digitally and then made to look like film that Jason was not too pleased about and continues to bother him.

This film took 6 months to make with 3 shoot days spread out over a couple of months and a headache of ADR work which lead to a completed film dealing with sexually transmitted diseases using the zombie genre to drive it. This was an idea Jason had come up with a year earlier when planning to make a zombie feature film with VIPCO that unfortunately fell through.

This film has had numerous screenings splitting the audience in half, partly due to its shocking images including a zombie penis! The film has ended up being the opening to Jason Impey’s feature film ‘Cut & Paste 2’.

Comedy Horror

This quirky little film tells a simple tale of a baker who turns a complaining customer into his next delicious treat on the menu. Do you know what’s in your pie?

This film was originally made for a short horror film competition in which it had to be just 2 minutes long. Jason did a cut for this, but had to loose a lot of the gore to save the running time, so after the competition Jason reinserted the gore for a 3 minute director’s cut which has gone on to have minor distribution in Germany.

Hitman 2005

2 minutes

Action

Hitman is a simple short in which a man being lead to his execution escapes and a show down is sure to be followed by the escapee and executioner.

This is a very short little film with a theme about split personality and looks at the struggle one faces with their inner demon.

A lot of the effects for this film were done in camera.

webassets/lonewarrior.jpg

Lone Warrior 2005

90 Seconds

Samurai

Jason Impey went out one day in early February 2005 with is miniDV handycam and shot 2 super short films each using different techniques in filming and then playing around with them again on his Casablanca like with ‘Beyond Darkness’. The first of these films is ‘Lone Warrior’ & the second being ‘Eternal Beast’.

Lone Warrior is a simple 90 second film that shows a samurai warrior walking the wasteland defending himself against the mysterious presence he feels.

Jason expanded on this idea and made a brand new 30 second teaser trailer for Lone Warrior in 2006 and submitted it with a script etc for funding for the digital shorts grant, although feedback was good funding did not ever happen.

This film was screened at a short film festival in London in 2005 and is available on  ‘Tales of Terror 2’.

Beyond Darkness: Dave’s Story 2004

15 minutes

This film follows the character of Dave from Obsession into a strange under world in which a drug deal goes wrong and a deadly mysterious assassin is out for revenge.

Zombies in the Wood 2004

10 minutes

Zombie Film

Zombies in the Wood is the first zombie film Jason made and a horror sub genre he would visit many times here on as it is one of his favourite kind of horror films.

This film was made for the ‘2 Days Later Short Film Competition 2004’ and won best film at this festival.

Zombies in the Wood tells a simple story of a deadly game of cat and mouse that turns into a zombie massacre. A deal has gone wrong which leads to a hitman on the hunt for a conrad who heads deep into the woods only to discover a zombie out break in which he must stand his ground and fight the living dead!

Jason stars as well as directs this semi masterpiece of his that again was shot on miniDV on a Canon XL1S and edited on the Casablanca editing system that Jason grew very fond of and had done through college.

Jason was working as a tape liberian at the TV company Princess Productions when he made this film, and he original found out about the competition from his fellow filmmaker friend Ben Campbell and was going to be the DOP for his entry, but Ben decided to enter a different film competition where you make a film for £50 so Jason was DOP for Ben’s film ‘Urban Fairytale’ and decided he would enter the ‘2 Days Later Short Film Competition 2004’ with his own film, but had left it late to make a film, so the whole film was shot in 16 hours in one day and edited the following day to the make the deadline.

Zombies in the Wood is also available on the ‘Tales of Terror’ DVD anthology.

webassets/obsession.jpg

Obsession 2004

10 minutes

Slasher

Obsession is the first film Jason Impey made since all his amateur short films he made as a child including ‘Split Second’ and an environmental documentary, and all his college projects including music videos, experimental art installations, documentaries and fake trailers.

Obsession tells the tale of a crazed psychopath who has an unhealthy obsession with a girl (Gemma) he has known for years through out his school life. He has always had a crush on her and gets very jealous when any one comes close to her, even her own brother!

His stalking turns into a night of blood shed when he kills Gemma, the girl of his dreams, the only one thing he loved, from then on nothing else and no one else matters!

This is another film of Jason’s and one of the first that explores a self-harming issue that becomes common ground later in Jason’s films, this one particularly focusing on the mental break down of an unstable individual who finally looses his grip on reality.

Obsession was a very independently made short film in which Jason stepped in most of the job roles with support from friends and family. The film was shot on miniDV on a Canon XL1S and edited on an analogue Casablanca editing system. The film was screened at the ‘Festival Of Fantastic Films’ in Manchester in 2004 and is available in the ‘Tales Of Terror’ anthology on DVD now.

Jason started writing sequels to this film, and a teaser trailer was made for the sequel. Jason revisited this film several times. First a promo was made from it with newly shot footage in 2005 to try and raise money for a feature version, but instead itself was entered into a trailer showdown competition in which it got into the top 3. Later in 2005 Jason came back to Obsession and equipped with his new editing suite which consisted of a G5 with Final Cut Pro 4.5 he re-edited the whole film from the original rushes mixed with the brand new footage shot for the promo and the teaser trailer for the second and made his definitive cut of his first original slasher film.
